Biochemical markers of Active Trigger Points

In this article, Shah et al. find that trapezius had greater markers of inflammation and pain in people with active trigger points than in people with latent or no trigger points. Concentrations of biochemicals were significantly higher in the trapezius muscle in the active trigger point group.
